Book Review| Part 1 | The year of less by Cait Flanders
~ LESS IS MORE ~
I'm currently reading this book about an amazing story of a young woman who decided to change her life over by employing a rather radical step - banning shopping for an entire year. I'll review the book later when I finish it.
I just want to share a little about the resonance it has with the current situation. Corona pandemic has put our world to a standstill. People are dying, economy is crashing and fear is creeping. But in every obstacle there is a way. In every difficult situation there is a lesson to learn.
I don't think there has been a better time than today to understand the importance of why having less is more. I know all of us who are safe today have had a moment of contemplation and maybe for the first time in a long time you have not worried about anything else except your life.
We often keep our lives so busy, messy and noisy that we don't usually hear our own voices and surround ourselves with things that don't matter. Maybe it's time to slow down and cut out the noise. Maybe it's time for solitude and for pure joy with loved ones. It's time to do the things you love. You have all the time in the world today. It's time to declutter. Clean up and get rid of the mess in your life and keep those that are valuable. Things that connect and give meaning.
Less is more. From a fast paced world of consumerism and instant gratification, we are locked down to bare minimum. With that condition we are forced to find what truly matters. Don't hoard. Don't waste. Buy only what is essential. Eat only what is required. Spend time wisely because this will be gone as quickly as the virus came. Let's all find the little things that really matters in this quarantine time. The pure joy.
What's your pure joy? Mine are books, music and time with family 😊😊
Stay safe.
